Diversions on the A64 affecting Coastliner

There are roadworks taking place soon on the A64 which will close the road completely between York and Malton for two weekends in the coming weeks. The first closure will take place from the evening of Friday 19 to the morning of Monday 22 October, with the second closure happening on Friday 9 - Sunday 11 November.

The A64 is the main road we use when travelling to and from the coast, so there'll be some important changes you need to know about on these two weekends.

Fridays (19 October and 9 November)

On Friday we will run as normal throughout the day. Changes will start from York towards the coast at 1927 and at 2014 from Malton towards York where buses will run non-stop between Stockton on the Forest and Malton. 

Saturdays (20 October and 10 November)

Buses will be running as normal between Leeds and York, except for the 1958, 2058 and 2158 from Leeds which will run 10 mins later.

There'll be one bus an hour between York, Malton and Scarborough, which runs non-stop between Stockton on the Forest and Malton. From Malton, you'll be able to catch buses to Pickering and Whitby.

Buses from Whitby, Thornton-le-Dale and Pickering will finish at Malton, where you'll need to change for buses to York and Leeds. These buses will run non-stop between Malton and Stockton on the Forest.

Sundays (21 October and 11 November)

Buses will leave Leeds 15 mins earlier than the normal times, with the first bus at 0800, then every hour until 2045, 2130 and 2215.

From York train station to Leeds, we'll be running at different times, starting at 0655, 0755, 0855, 0955, 1040, then every hour until 1940, 2032 and 2117. 

Buses between Leeds and Scarborough will run non-stop between Stockton on the Forest and Malton.

…Fridays (19 October and 9 November)?

Your buses will run as normal for the whole day.

Saturdays (20 October and 10 November)?

Your bus will run as normal for the majority of the day. The only changes will be if you catch the 1958, 2058 and 2158 from Leeds, these buses will run 10 mins later at 2008, 2108 and 2208. Click here for a full departures list from Leeds and York.

Sundays (21 October and 11 November)

From Leeds your buses will run hourly, apart from they will be running 15 minutes earlier than normal, so the first bus will now leave at 0800 and then on the hour every hour until 2045, 2130 and 2215.

What should I do if I'm travelling between York and Malton on…  

…Fridays (19 October and 9 November)?

Your bus will run as normal of the majority of the day. There are only six journeys from York and two journeys from Malton in the evening that'll be affected.

If you catch the bus at 1927 and any bus after that time from York to the coast, we will be running non-stop between Stockton on the Forest and Malton.

If you catch the 2014 or the 2114 from Malton towards York, your bus will run non-stop between Malton and Stockton on the Forest. 

Saturdays (20 October and 10 November)?

There'll be an hourly service between York and Malton that will run non-stop between Stockton on the Forest and Malton. The first bus is at 0505 from Malton and 0823 from York. Click here for a full departures list from York and Malton.

There'll be an hourly service between York and Malton that will run non-stop between Stockton on the Forest and Malton. The first bus is at 0602 from Malton and 0908 from York rail station. Click here for a full departures list from York and Malton.

 

What should I do if I'm travelling between Leeds, York and Scarborough on…  

…Fridays (19 October and 9 November)?

Your buses will run as normal throughout the day apart from some minor exceptions. The only changes will be that the last two buses from Scarborough (1915 and 2015) will run non-stop between Malton and Stockton on the Forest.

Saturdays (20 October and 10 November)?

From Leeds your buses will run hourly to Scarborough from 07.15 until 16.15.

From Scarborough your buses will run hourly to Leeds from 08.00 until 17.00 and then from Scarborough at 18.15, 1915 and 2015. The 2015 bus only goes as far as Woodlands, Garnet Lane.

All of these buses will run non-stop between Stockton on the Forest and Malton.

Sundays (21 October and 11 November)

From Leeds your buses will run hourly to Scarborough from 08.00 until 15.00.

From Scarborough your buses will run hourly to Leeds from 09.30 until 16.30.

All of these buses will run non-stop between Stockton on the Forest and Malton.

 

What should I do if I'm travelling between Leeds, York and Whitby on…  

…Fridays (19 October and 9 November)?

Your buses will run as normal for the whole day.

Saturdays (20 October and 10 November)?

To go through between Leeds, York and Whitby you will have to change buses at Malton.

Buses run every hour to Malton from Leeds and York, and then every hour as far as Thornton-le-Dale and every two hours to Whitby from Malton.

For the quickest journey to Whitby from Leeds catch the 0815, 1015 or 1215 from Leeds and then change at Malton and catch the bus to Whitby at 1115, 1315 or 1515.

For the quickest journey to Leeds from Whitby catch the 1100, 1300, 1500 or 1745 from Whitby and then change at Malton and catch the bus to Leeds at 1301, 1501, 1701 or 2014. 

All of these buses will run non-stop between Stockton on the Forest and Malton.

Sundays (21 October and 11 November)

To go between Leeds, York and Whitby you will have to change buses at Malton.

Buses run every hour between Leeds and Malton.

Buses will leave Malton at 1015 and 1515 to Whitby and then 1200 and 1700 from Whitby to Malton.

All of these buses will run non-stop between Stockton on the Forest and Malton.
